DO GERMANS HAVE GOOD DESSERTS?

WHAT FAMOUS DESSERTS DO GERMANS EAT?

Germans like a lot to eat and prepare lots of different and delicious meals, but they also love deserts. They've got lots of different and typical german desserts, that they are the only ones that do it and we can't see these desserts in any other place in the whole world. Here there are some examples:

APFLESTRUDLE

The apflestrudle in german, also known as applestrudle in english is a typical german dessert, its basely made of a thin roll like pastry or sometimes puff pastry. then you have to put in the middle some apple pottery you can also put some raisins, cinnamon and sugar.
While you cook it in the oven some people put ron to give it more taste.
When you put in a bowl to eat you have to add some cream and also nuts and you can eat it.

BERLINER

A Berliner Pfannkuchen is a traditional german pastry, it seems like a doughnut and it's made like it, with some yeast dough fried with lots of oil, but it doesn't have the enourmous hole in the middle of it, instead it's filled with some type of marmalade or jam (strawberry, peach, orange...) or maybe some chocolate or advocaat or anything. Also you put some powdered sugar.

    KÄSEKUCHEN (CHEESE TORTE)

This is a typical german dessert, it's like a cheese cake.
To make this cake you have to put some german cheese (quark) and then add some cream, Then when you have done the crust and put all the cheese and cream on top you have to bake it in an oven a few minutes, and it's done.

Rumtopf

This typical german dessert eaten in Germany and Denmark, it's put in sale mostly at Christmas time.
To do this dessert you have to put in a pot different types of fruit, rum (alcohol) and quite alot of sugar, then it has to be left to mature some months, until the fruit is soft. Not all the fruits are good to put in the rumtopf, but some good fruits are: berries, cherries and apricots. The rum has o be (50 to 55 % alcohol).
Typically you start to prepaere this dessert in spring, you put all the ingredients it needs, plus the fruit in season that can go with the dessert,  then you put it in a cool place where it will be for half a year or a little bit more, during the months that will pass you can add some other fruit while the the seasen of the fruits come past.

WHAT DO GERMANS LIKE TO EAT?

WHAT'S THE TYPICAL GERMAN BREAKFAST?

Some pretzels are the typic things that germans eat all time during the day.
They sell pretzels everywhere: in all the food shops, in markets, in little stores they put in the middle of the street , in the stadiums where they play football, baseball or any sport...

Another thing they eat a lot for breakfast or during dinner or lunch time  are the sausages.
They have sausages of everytkind you can imagine.

Also for breakfast they eat diferent types of bread with some cheese or meat, sometimes they  cook some boiled eggs to go with.

Germans also like their pastries bought from a nice bakery and eaten while they are still hot.

But nowadays people in germany don't have so elaborated breakfasts because with all the busy live they don't have time to make them, so now they eat more simple breakfasts, like some cereals or just a bit of bread with ham or something like this. But if they have some time they like to invite some friends and go eating ou their breakfast in a cafe where they will eat quite a massive breakfast.

LUNCH

In germany they have lunch more a less at 12 o'clock at midday, but in these years they have so much work and lots of them work with spanish timetable that they sometimes don't have lunch until two o'clock, it works the same with the supper.
For germans the most important meal is the lunch, not like in Spain that it's the breakfast, in Germany for lunch they eat basicly vegetables, meat and lots of potatoes, if they are catholic on Fridays they will eat some dish of fish instead of the meat.
But nowadays in Germany they eat for lunch the same things as any other place, so in every town you go there will be an Italian that serve some pizza and pasta, also a stall were they sell some ice-cream, another thing that's becoming quite popular is the Doner Kebab, so now you can find it everywhere as well, and don't forget it, they also have the fast food places, like mcdonalds, burger king, subway...
And they also like to eat more mediterranean type food to stay healthier, especially women.

DINNER

Germans don't eat a lot for dinner, usually it's only one dish, without starters,a main dish with a dessert like a youghrt or a piece of fruit.
Something they usually do for dinner is some different types of bread with hams, cheese, sometimes also vegetables or if not they eat some sandwiches, with the bread they eat some salad or a soup, sometimes the two things together. To drink they have some sparkling water (they never buy mineral water because there the water that comes out from the street is as good as the one you can buy and it's free, so they just sell sparkling water) or some type of juice.
Usually they have dinner between 6 and 7 pm, because they have lunch quite early allsow
